The next generation of Ralph Thornber’s family now provide incubators for fast growing businesses rather than hatchlings.
This inherently entrepreneurial team have developed The Craggs Business Parks alongside their other new enterprises. They provide corporate level business premises, built on traditional values and a truly personal level of service. The team have the genuine ability to add value to their tenants and share a passion for the development of their businesses which is proving an excellent recipe for success.
Since studying business at university in Manchester, Heidi has proven instrumental in businesses of all sizes. Now the orchestrator of daily operations at The Craggs, she combines corporate level strategy with more than a little local knowledge and a fair bit of graft.
Having worked in the IT industry for the global technology companies such as Hewlett Packard and Xerox, she brought things closer to home when creating The Ark Nursery in Mytholmroyd in 2002 which she built along with her friend Jo and then sold in 2015. Heidi has been involved with The Craggs Country Business Parks from the very beginning taking over daily management of the company in 2014 through Cragg Vale Consultancy Ltd.
Constantly keeping up to date with the goings on in the valley, Heidi is always on hand to give guidance to tenants and collaborate with others businesses in the area. When not on site, or striding the hills with family hounds Scooby and Ralph, Heidi’s also been known to partake in Yoga.
Husband to Heidi, Chris has been integral to the Craggs team since the very beginning. He manages a number of businesses on the original site as well as supporting its growth through Cragg Vale Consultancy Ltd.
As with Heidi, Chris spent time in the global IT industry at HP and Morse Group before going on to start and then sell Aspire Technology Ltd to a US IT company. This heralded the beginning of today’s family of Craggs businesses, starting with the multi-award winning Craggs Energy in 2011. Still the director of this discerning local business, he is also CEO of Craggs Environmental Ltd, Craggs Fuel Cards, Antha Ltd, Tanktopper.co.uk and Craggs Storage whilst keeping abreast of the local and national business community and getting stuck in when needed.
In addition to his entrepreneurial endeavors, Chris engages in a number of alternative forms of transport, including, but not limited to skiing, sailing and motor racing in the Craggs branded Caterham.
Since the 1980’s Ralph has successfully transitioned the Thornber name towards property development in Mytholmroyd and Hebden Bridge under the banner of R. E. Thornber Ltd. In partnership with June, they are the driving force in the acquisition, design and development of new sites. Ralph’s local and national connections, combined with June’s commercial and financial acumen have continue to be instrumental in the success of their many enterprises.
Making up the final two Craggs creators, June and Ralph also play the role of Mother and Father to Heidi and her sister Zoe, grandparents to five granddaughters, and owners of Benson.
As son of Cyril Thornber, Ralph continues to carry out the family’s commitment to developing the local community.
