The Craggs Cottage

The Craggs is a 19th Century cottage, adjoining the owners house, just a few yards from the beach. It has three steps up to the front door, opening into the hallway, which leads to the bathroom with electric shower.  In the kitchen there is an electric cooker, microwave and larder fridge. The sitting room has a double bed settee, television and dining table that seats four, a traditional fireplace with wood burner and great views over the Kilbrannan Sound.  Reached by a traditional cottage staircase, the bedroom has two single beds and a window seat to watch the wildlife go by.  We also have a cot / child bed, highchair and stairgate if required.  Although fenced off from the road, the garden is not suitable for small children unattended and sadly we can no longer accommodate pets.  Electricity, bedlinen and towels are included in the price (please bring your own beach towels) and relax.

Dolphin

Dolphins at Catacol

Because Arran is surrounded by the Gulf Stream and the water is comparatively warm, we are blessed with visits from Dolphins, Porpoises, and at the end of the summer, Basking Sharks.  Seals are a common sight here, in fact a lay-by has been constructed near Brodick, for visitors to park and watch the resident seal population.  There is also a large colony at Lochranza.  Another common sight is the Buzzard, if you are lucky, it is possible to see Golden Eagles. Recently, a Sea Eagle has been spotted at Catacol, hopefully he will return one day with a mate.
